Whatcha Watchin’?

Admit it… you’re searching and streaming more than ever, I know I am. Pandemic time is so ssssssllllooooowwww. If you are constantly seeking new, unusual, and unique content, here ya go!

M. Night Shyamalan’s Servant on Apple TV+ is pretty weird and definitely different than anything you’ve ever seen. Servant tells the story of parents Dorothy (Lauren Ambrose-Six Feet Under) and Sean Turner (Toby Kebbell-Fantastic Four) who’ve tragically lost a child. To cope, Dorothy takes care of an eerily lifelike doll, pretending it’s her real baby. And when this coping mechanism extends as far as hiring a real-life nanny, things get…weird. Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley of Harry Potter) plays the brother of Ambrose’s character who gets deep into the ruse and perpetuates some crazy antics to keep his sister from totally losing it. It gets crazy-weird, and pretty sad when they throw in flash backs of what happened to Sean and Dorothy’s baby and her unraveling. I give it 4 out of 5 F’s!

Get ready for some camp and circumstance! The Flight Attendant on HBOMax is a dark comedic thriller starring Kaley Cuoco (Big Bang Theory) as Cassie, a flight attendant who wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man and no idea what happened. She messy! The cast includes Rosie Perez (White Men Can’t Jump) living her own messy life and the leading man is played by Michael Huisman (Game of Thrones) yes, he gets killed, but haunts Cassie throughout the series and graciously gives us some bare-ass once in a while… HE FIT AF! I give it a 4.5 out of 5 F’s!

And now for my real, real obsession… Fleabag on Amazon. I mean… hello sarcasm and sass with a wink to the audience! Phoebe Waller-Bridge (comedian) based this on her one-woman show, portraying a free-spirited and sexually active but angry and confused young woman in London. Let me just tell ya about Andrew Scott (Sherlock-BBC) “The Priest” who is just too hot for words and whom Phoebe cannot and does not stay away from, eeeek! The really fun aspect of this dark comedy is when Phoebe (Fleabag) breaks the fourth wall. WTF? Breaking the fourth wall is when an actor refers to the audience directly, or in the case of Fleabag looks directly into the camera with a wink, nod or smirk, it’s awesome!  All the supporting actors are amazing too… but her dad, played by Sian Clifford (so many roles, you’ll recognize him) and her step-mum played by Olivia Colman (again so many roles, the queen in The Crown) absolutely show-up in this crazy, funny, dark story of another messy girl making her way through life. Ummm… 5 out of 5 F’s, DUH!

I’ve got many more, stay tuned… xo-Katie
